Leptigen Review 2017: Ingredients, Side Effects, Results, Where To Buy & Best Alternative

We do not recommend Leptigen. If you want to skip this review and see the best alternative click here. Otherwise keep reading!

I first became interested in the potential benefits of Leptigen when I saw some amazing claims, and also some almost unbelievably positive Leptigen reviews.

Some of the statements from the company who make it just sounded amazing:

“Leptigen is the only brand that effectively combines Meratrim, ChromeMate, Green Tea Extract and Caffeine.”

I was intrigued how effectively combining these ingredients was a selling point, and why it was something no other company had done.

Also this claim around being proven through clinical research caught my eye:

“Powerful appetite suppressant; key ingredients backed by published clinical research”

But then my big red flashing warning lights went off when I also saw this claim on the Amazon sales page:

“Lose 4 Times More Weight Than With Diet & Exercise Alone!”

Too good to be true? Usually when things sound too good to be true, they often are. So this Leptigen review aims to get at the truth.

Ingredients

To answer the question: does Leptigen work, the first obvious place to look is at the ingredients, what they are, and do the claims around them stack up?

Each capsule of Leptigen has the following active ingredients:

  • Decaffeinated green tea extract 200mg
  • Chromium polynicotinate 100mcg
  • Meratrim 400mg
  • Caffeine 75mg

leptigen labelThe Green tea extract is known as EGCG. This is a trademarked version that is apparently better absorbed than normal green tea. There are a handful of studies that suggest this can help you lose weight.

Chromium polynicotinate is found in some weight loss supplements. In the 1990s there was a study that suggested women lost weight using this. However, that was disputed and some of the women appear to have actually gained weight.

The other main ingredient, the really interesting one is Meratrim. Again, there are a handful of studies suggesting it can help with increased weight loss. The studies both used 800mg per day as the amount of Meratrim taken.

Side Effects

All diet and weight loss supplements have some sort of side effects. What matters is how bad they are! In terms of specific Leptigen side effects, the main ones are:

  • Irritability
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Increased heart rate
  • Lightheadedness
  • Dehydration

Now none of these are rated as severe, and I’m guessing that what is causing these is the caffeine. I’m also guessing that users who suffer from these side effects are probably taking in additional caffeine from tea and coffee, or maybe caffeine pills or energy drinks.

So it appears that the side effects of Leptigen are minimal.

Are Leptigen Results Real?

As I said at the start of this review, some of the stated results and benefits of taking Leptigen are significant.

So can you really lose four times more weight than dieting alone? And is it really a powerful appetite suppressant?

For me, I want to look at the research, the actual evidence that the ingredients do something positive that could lead to the stated claims.

And that’s where the problem is. I can’t find any concrete evidence that either the product itself, or the ingredients individually have any significant impact, certainly not enough for any scientific study to have concluded that Leptigen results are as claimed.

Is It A Scam?

pillsHaving said that the stated benefits of this supplement may have been oversold, I don’t think Leptigen is a deliberate scam.

But I think that the people who make it are well aware that they may be pushing the benefits too heavily, and are using very unsubstantiated and minor scientific studies that don’t quite fit the claims they are making.

Having said that, if you have the money for the Leptigen price, then the side effects are so minor that it’s worth a try.

Leptigen User Reviews From Amazon Buyers

As well as trying to find scientific studies, I had a look at real-world user reviews to see what people who have tried it are saying:

“Over-priced, over-hyped: I had no better response than using inexpensive Hoodia tabs. The only redeeming aspect: the motivation for cure in psychoanalysis is the absurd expense: the motivation for weight loss using Leptigen is the absurd expense: the faster you lose the weight the cheaper.”

A typical five-star review was:

“V.good it works”

And worryingly, if you try a sample pack, it appears you get signed up without your permission to a repeat payment plan:

“Take your money, read the fine print have lost a lot of money out of my account product does not work made me sick.”

On balance, a lot of the five-star reviews appear to be fake, and a lot of people are complaining that they are having money taken out their accounts without realizing that was going to happen. That can’t be good in terms of building trust.

The Pros & Cons

For me, the Pros of Leptigen are basically zero. I can’t see a single reason why you would want to try this product. User reviews are appalling, the company lacks trust and I’m not seeing any convincing scientific evidence that it can help you lose weight.

In terms of the cons, the first appears to be financial. It’s not cheap and you can buy the active ingredients cheaper individually.

On top of that is the concerning trend towards people being signed up for a repeat prescription without being aware.

So How Much Does It Cost & Where To Buy It?

If you are wondering where to buy  Leptigen, currently on Amazon, a one month “starter Kit” of Leptigen costs an almost insane $186.

Another usual option for Leptigen GNC: Not sold.

The Final Word

Can’t really find anything positive to say in my conclusion about Leptigen. I don’t think it’s a deliberate scam, but I do think that any benefits are being wildly overstated, with some suspicious claims from users and a concerning attempt to tie you in to repeat payments.

Recommended Alternative

phen375I think I’d have to say rather than looking at this product, I’d probably take a look at Phen375.

Phen375 has more proven track record with slightly more scientific research to back up its claims. On top of that it has a lot more depth in the body of users, and user reviews that are talking about its benefits.

It’s also sold as a fat burning product, so it’s making similar claims to those of Liptigen in that respect, but I just think there’s more to back it up. So if you have to put your money anywhere, I’ll suggest you try Phen375 first.
