Managing Skin Blisters From Sunburn

Skin blisters from sunburn are one of the hardest to manage as they can lead to number of other complications like infections, diseases and even caner conditions. Inflammation followed by bleeding can make the skin conditions worse. Most cases of sunburn result in skin blisters on hands and neck.

  • The first step in healing the sunburn blisters is to run off the accumulated fluid. Dermatologists often follow the method of deliberately puncturing the swelling to remove the fluid.
  • The second step is to heal the wound. It is done with the help of medications and treatments. It can take up to weeks for this process to be complete.
  • Once the wound is healed it is time to eliminate the scars. However scars will not go away so easily. Sometimes the dermatologist applies grafting or similar method to cover the scars.

This is due to the lack of blood flow between the heart and leg nerves. In many cases the blisters heal once the glucose levels are brought under control. It is only when the glucose level goes to abnormal levels that blisters can turn into gangrene conditions.

However the blood pressure has to be brought under control to get effective results. Medication and treatment for hypertension patients can be lifelong process. The symptoms can only be controlled but they cannot be eliminated completely.

The human skin has a tolerance limit for with standing physical stress. When it goes beyond limits the result could be breakdown of skin layers, resulting in painful blisters. Pressure ulcer is a typical example for this.

In most cases blisters result from trauma and friction. American Association of Dermatologists has categorized these types of blisters into multiple types based on their nature.

  1. Blood blisters. They contain blood rather than fluid.
  2. Fluid Blisters. They contain contaminated fluids called pus.
  3. Heel blisters. They typically appear on heels. They are normally formed due to stress rather than infections. Diabetic patients are prone to such blisters due to varying glucose levels in blood.
